Client: Welsh Government
We delivered the Warm Homes scheme (formerly Arbed Phase 2) for 3 years from our Abergele office, during which time 5,000 properties across Wales have been improved, benefitting from European funding. The programme focussed on hard to treat, solid walled homes with many residents living in fuel poverty in remote, off-gas grid areas.
Key Successes
- We developed a Training and Employment Work Experience Programme to support the Welsh Government’s Lift initiative which is targeted at tackling poverty in Wales
- We developed bespoke EWI system and details to suit specific Welsh character homes; over 1,600 EWI installations delivered
- We secured nearly £1m ECO funding from energy companies to support the programme
- We educated / improved resident behaviour to optimise the efficiency measures installed
Works included:
We worked closely with the Welsh Government to carry out energy assessments to homes and assemble viable schemes in conjunction with Local Authorities.
We delivered energy efficiency measures, including EWI, replacement doors and windows, re-roofing, renewable energy measures, replacement heating systems to a variety of archetypes in north Wales, including heritage properties.
"It was heartening to observe the works undertaken at Llandysul funded under the Arbed 2 initiative. The company delivered a well thought through scheme, with the careful selection of correct products and a level of quality control on site I have rarely encountered." Colin King, Director at Building Research Establishment
