Running for Change: Fortem and Birmingham City Council take on the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run to Support St Basils
Published 2nd May 2025
More than 20 employees from Fortem will join colleagues from Birmingham City Council to take part in the Midlands' biggest running event on 4th May 2025. Participants will run through the heart of Birmingham, passing some of the city's most iconic landmarks including the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul’s Square, Cannon Hill and Bournville, with the option of completing either a half marathon or a 10k challenge.
St Basils is both a charity and a housing association that provides a holistic range of accommodation and support services to young people who are homeless, vulnerable or at risk. For over 50 years, they have been supporting young people aged 16-25, providing them with safe accommodation, support, and opportunities to rebuild their lives and achieve independence.
"We’re absolutely delighted to have the brilliant teams from Fortem and Birmingham City Council running in support of St Basils. Taking on the Great Birmingham Run is no small feat, and we’re incredibly grateful they’re doing it to help young people who are facing some of the toughest challenges life can throw at them. Every step they take – and every pound they raise – will go towards giving vulnerable young people a safe place to stay, someone to talk to, and the chance to build a brighter future. From all of us at St Basils – thank you for running, fundraising, and making such a big difference."
– Barrie Hodge, Head of Fundraising and Communications, St Basils
